A bit of earth....

Because it's Wednesday (and we've been so good at following our scheduled weekly schedule in the last couple of weeks), we congregated in the backyard to start off our winter garden.  Our little patch is the small space that we tidied up last week and we are hoping to grow some cold loving veggies through the winter and into the next growing season.  To do so I figured we will be needing to cover the two pots that we are seeding so that when the rains do come (hopefully soon) they will not get soaked or freeze in the really cold nights we are having lately.

For now, we are just seeding...hoping to grow some lettuce and spinach (both still suitable to grow through our northern California winters) and perhaps if it stays dry in the next weeks, we will start setting up some more raised beds for the other plantings we are planning to have in the Spring and Summer.
