Made of Glass

It's an item we often take for granted yet have existed for quite some time.  What came about through skillful design and attention to detail is now coming out of processing plants and an assembly line....glass!  At least the art of glassmaking is not a lost art just yet.  Thanks to artisans and young designers who cared enough to make sure that this art form does not get lost, glass art and glass making itself continues to leave us breathless.

We learned that glass making is a team effort.  Two glass masters must work together to put a piece together - one leads while the other supports and anticipate his every need.  It almost looked like a well coordinated dance, skillful yet very graceful and thoughtful in each step.  In the end, they created a colorful vase and since there was time for another creation, they treated us to a decanter bottle as well.

I love how the faces of young ones light up in the presence of creativity.  It reminds me how it is in our nature to explore and create and thrive in the works of our own hands.  Our loving Designer set us up well knowing that such work results in our own happiness and contentment so its little wonder that we can expect to be reminded of that fact when we observe how they affect the littlest amongst us as their innocence leads them to respond appropriately to what's should be natural...a love and appreciation for creativity and all things natural and beautiful!

I love how homeschooling afforded us opportunities like these...to explore place that normally won't be on the regular field trip list but the fact that we were a smaller, more diverse group helped the whole experience become more informative and interactive.  Having both young and old students (and their parents) participating gave everyone more excitement, more knowledge and more memorable experiences...it was priceless.
