BFF Day

So, it's officially summer around here and kids are out of school looking for things to do.  We on the other hand are still continuing on catching up on the lessons we have yet to finish but we are closing in as well.  Nevertheless, we yield to the call of summer and so when an opportunity arises to get together with dear friends to celebrate these hot days, we of course would drop everything.

Days like these are especially sweeter when the girls spend it with their besties.  So when Faith said yes to join us in our first swim at are usually swimming hole, Ickey of course was beside herself.  This is the first time that she came on her own, showing how time flew and that the girls are now old enough to be independent of their parents on these outings...sigh!

We initially planned on being out in service after we pick up Faith but the girls and I were running late and none of us had breakfast and was famished.

We planned on having lunch at Sweet Tomatoes since kids eat free through out the summer but of course, I was the only paying adult so only one of them was technically free.

After lunch, we immediately head out to Silliman anticipating a line but to our surprise it was not as busy as thought it would be. We had an even bigger surprise in seeing that the old place got a full makeover and is now brighter and even somewhat bigger especially in the kiddie area.  The old kiddie fort was redesigned to now have a bigger bucket that would dump a ton of water when filled which the little ones love....evident from the many squeals afterwards.

They kept both slides in one side now probably for safety purposes and as usual, lifeguards abound along with junior lifeguards in toe.  I always admired the fact that this place keeps up with this program since it's great training for both teens and tweens alike.  This day though, I found it amusing that one of the lifeguards was a bit hyper with his responsibilities and was constantly whistling to keep kids at bay.  Every one else seems to be more lenient but still kept a close eye. But with kids just having fun in such a fun place, he was certainly stressing himself more and annoying the rest of us....dude, chill out!

Anyway, back to Faith and Myka....the girls were all over the place, even trying the big slides and was having lots of fun.  I had to stay with them initially since Faith used her life vest and the lifeguards told me that if she does then I have to be within arms length.  She quickly realized that for the most parts, that the water was not very deep so she can do without it but she still braved the deep end, using the vest as boogie board rather than what it's intended.

Mer on the other hand was a bit of a loner today since she didn't have a buddy to go with.

Afterwards, we head to Itea before calling it a day because as you know around here....days like these will not be complete without boba!

Overall, it's definitely a first swim to remember!  Now we can look forward to the rest of what summer has in store for us this year!
