Playground/Park Tour - Hellyer County Park

Summer is speeding up to get here and we are scouting for hang out parks while we do our park/hike and library day.  Today came from my list that I put together last year under "Top Beautiful Parks in San Jose."  Well, it did not disappoint!

After picking up our usual Tuesday crew (Jamin and Ashley) we drove just a short distance pass our exit to Hellyer County Park. Like all county parks here in Santa Clara County, this one has a $6 entrance at the gate.  I am seriously considering to get the annual pass for $95 if we will do this every week since it will definitely be a lot more savings that way.

We lingered around the playground and lake section which is right of the entrance and is apparently just a small portion of this county park that has over 18 miles worth of trails around it. The play structure is fairly new, renovated around October of last year so you can expect the latest and greatest which delighted my vanfull of young ones. Shannon and her kids joined us shortly after as well. All of them, teen and tween alike enjoyed the play structure that was originally designed for children up to ahem...12 years old...but hey, you are never too old to play right!

There are 3 play areas, one designed for the babies, the middle for the older kids and the third is a water play area that every one can enjoy during the hottest days of summer.

All around are benches for the waiting parents (and guardians) and all structures have shade sails to shield everyone from the piercing heat.  It's a great layout and the kids love everything but especially the conical merry-go-round or what the kids called "the spinny thingy!"

We caped off our stay by walking around the small lake which is probably less than a mile around and enjoyed the beautiful trees and wildlife with their little ones showing how spring has definitely sprung around here.

Overall, this is a great park for an all dayer with the kids.  We could pack a picnic and bring our volleyball nets and bikes/scooters and they will be more than happy to stay and here and chill!  Definitely a great find and we will definitely be back!
