The School Bell Rings

The inevitable came and the day has come when our little girl will take her next step forward to growing and learning.  Yes, my Mer is now in Kindergarten!!!

Our two-part introduction to school started on Tuesday afternoon with Kinder orientation. Right off the bat our school showed impressive technique as they gathered the kids and led them away from the crowd and their parents to see their classrooms and meet their teacher ON THEIR OWN!  That certainly will take away or address any separation anxiety that the kids might have on the actual first day.  Mer was excited but was also visibly nervous when she had to leave us.  We came as a family and her little sis did not want to see her sister disappear...she was already missing her and school did not even start yet!

After the parents got drilled with the basics, the children came back happy and more excited for the day ahead.

So by the time Wednesday morning rolled on, Mer did not need any coaching to get ready for school. We took her first day pictures (I hate my lens) and we went to gather near her classroom to line up and the parents got to see the inside of her classroom for the first time.  The children played together for the first few minutes while the parents were there, then eventually we said goodbye and they were on their own...no tears shed (except for the parents) and almost no nervousness since they already know what to expect....it was awesome!

A few hours later, Ickey and I came to pick her up and we went over her day.  She had lots of fun and can't wait to go again tomorrow!  I on the other hand, am still not ready to let go just yet....sigh!

Ah....the joys and tears of a parent...yet nothing is better than this!
