Summer Concerts

When my husband and I were still on our own, the highlight of our summer was to go to the summer concert series throughout the bay.  Most of ones we had a chance to enjoy were from Jazz artists like Keiko Matsui and the Rippingtons.  We are both big fans of music and we enjoy listening to them.  Our last concert was one I will never forget.  Done in the breathtaking views of Half Moon Bay, almost all our favorite Jazz artists were there. It was fun and well...very much missed.

It was never our intent to deprive ourselves and our children with that kind of wonderful exposure to music.  But I guess, life got in the way and we forgot for a moment how things like sitting on a picnic blanket together as a family enjoying a great performance while enjoying a treat or two was a perfect way to slow down and reconnect.  Well fortunately, our little town hold such treasures as a summer concert series and this Sunday, we made haste after our Sunday meetings so that we could catch the band playing in the square.  It was more alternative than jazzy but it was awesome nonetheless.

The girls and I went out first thinking that my husband will likely not make it since he was still in a meeting.  We stopped by Kiki's Konfections for a treat and it was all that everyone is raving about!!! We had the popular lemon and lavender cookies and a chocolate and vanilla cupcake to share (then we went back later on to get her popular fudge).

We first sat on the grass around the concert area but the only shade available was the bit around the sound controls and it was too snug to be comfortable but it was enough so that Mer can have a good look at the band playing. She's a music lover and was always drawn to instruments of any kind so she was mesmerized indeed.

We left our spot to get a drink and Daddy surprised us on our way back to join us in the park and enjoy the rest of the concert.  We sat while the girls got soaked (again) playing in the fountain with the other kids.

It was nice and simple and a much needed time to get together as a family just listening to music and enjoying the beautiful scenery and the outdoor air.

It's enough to remember why we used to love doing this and how we now have much more reasons to love it even more.
