Practice Makes Perfect

Since the beginning of the week my Mer Mer has been busying herself in learning the hula hoop. Her first tries were followed with a frustrated moan and several complaints each with its own excuse as to why this hula hoop business is not working.  We tried to encourage her by trying it ourselves but we came up with our own excuses as to why OUR hoop was not working for us.  But unlike us, our big girl fought off her frustrations, dusted off her hula hoop and kept trying...and trying and trying.  She would come home from school wanting to jump in and do a few practice runs despite being visibly tired from her busy morning of learning. By today she pretty much knows how to keep that hoop on her waist for a few seconds and I won't be surprise if by the weekend she'll be walking around with the said hoop twirling around her waist. To her it is still a work in progress...to mom it was already an awesome reminder that with hard work and persistence we can win the battle over our doubting minds and be brilliant with anything!
