Playground Tour #3 - 1 to 3 Summary

Finally...all caught up!

Another plan for this summer is to find and enjoy some of our local playgrounds and those that are notable in nearby places.  I posted the first two locations in Flickr but was not able to blog about them so I guess it's proper to do a quick review before I introduce number 3 which we visited today.

Number 1 - Lake Elizabeth

Our local favorite just had a face lift. They installed new play structures but the larger one is more intended for older kids. They no longer have the sand that my Ickey loves to play with just foam to keep awwies at bay.

Number 2 - Kennedy Community Park in Union City

This one was my favorite so far in terms of design because of how pretty and picturesque it was. They had a replica of the Golden Gate Bridge and main play structure was just massive and colorful. They also have a separate structure for the younger kids that was of course not as exciting as the main.  Lots of different play things and hiding places...the only draw back for me is that many young people hang out there and having making out sessions in front of the little ones....censored indeed!!!

Number 3 - Irvington Community Park, Fremont

I wanted to check out this one after seeing great reviews from Yelp.  They said it's a hidden gem and it surely was. The play structures are newer and there's plenty of other play things all over including a rock wall and twisters that the girls had dizzying, giggly fun with.

There's two separate structures as usual...one for the younger ones but they included some older kid activities there as well so that all kids could utilize them both.  There were drums to bang, puzzles built in the structures, telescopes and great twisty slides and two towers that the "princesses" could play Rapunzel with. The park itself has picnic places, basketball courts and even a soccer field.  Who knew we had this so close  to home?

I still have a few more playgrounds listed to visit.  So far, we are enjoying our mini adventures while we seek out these great and yes "free" play places in our area.
